Los Angeles, CA, USA - March 25th 2013

The Easter Season did arrive rather early in this year. With so many secular events coming at the first of the year, the uncertainties of the weather in many parts of the world along with economic conditions that are so problematic and occurring frequently in the post industrial society, the remembrance of Holy Week perhaps can be lost in the perspective of our concerns and fast paced schedules.

Nevertheless, the reality of the resurrection of our Lord is always before us as a foundation of our Christian faith. The forty days of temptation of Jesus in the wilderness has been a prototype of the Lenten Season in preparation for Easter. Now the triumphal entry into Jerusalem was the theme of this Sunday past as the Celebration of Easter is awaited this coming Sunday. Then the season of joy and gratitude follows with the forty days from Easter to Ascension Day.

Hope has been brought to humanity. The cares of our life, although a difficult reality for those marginalized, individuals in poverty, or the many people experiencing illness still abound, the knowledge of the Easter message awakens us of the pathway to eternal life. This is our Christian hope and comfort in this time of great transition and change in the world.

Let us go forth in humble thankfulness to God.
