Cookies and preferences

What is stored

Cookies are small values kept by your browser. Local storage is another way of saving settings on your device. We use them for the purposes listed below, not for advertising. Essential storage records your privacy decision and a language you explicitly select for the current session.

Optional choices

Remember my preferences saves language, animation and reading settings for up to 180 days. External maps loads OpenStreetMap. Website statistics enables Google Analytics. All three start off; rejecting them leaves the site content available.

Change or withdraw permission

Use Cookie and privacy settings in the footer at any time. Turning off saved preferences removes the saved animation setting and persistent language preference. Turning off maps removes the displayed map and stops further map requests; it cannot undo requests already received by the provider. Browser controls can also clear storage. Closing the settings without saving does not give permission.

Storage used by this site

The table lists the settings we create. Your browser may remove them sooner. Cloudflare may also use essential security cookies when it applies a security challenge; its cookie information explains those cookies. The unavailable contact form does not load Turnstile.

Saved reading preferences

The accessibility controls work without optional consent. If you allow saved preferences, language, animation and reading settings are remembered until your privacy choice expires, for at most 180 days. Withdrawing that permission deletes the saved settings; the current page can retain the display you have selected. Clearing browser storage also removes the choices. It does not delete any correspondence already held by the office.

Website statistics

Google Analytics starts only after you allow Website statistics. It receives page paths, technical browser and device details, cookie identifiers and your IP address during transmission. We exclude URL queries, form contents, search terms and reading preferences. We do not enable advertising features or infer religious beliefs. Google may process data outside your country. The _ga and _ga_* cookies expire after at most 180 days. Turning statistics off removes these cookies and reloads the page to stop collection; it cannot undo data already received. Use Cookie and privacy settings at any time.

User and event retention is set to two months, without renewal on new activity. Aggregated reports are not subject to that limit.

Essential storage remembers your privacy choice. You can separately allow saved reading and language preferences, external maps and website statistics. All optional choices start off.

Reading and accessibility

Changes apply immediately. To remember them for future visits, allow saved preferences in Cookie and privacy settings.
